“We couldn’t have asked for a better house or hosts… The villa is beautiful, spacious, and has everything one could need for a relaxing stay in the region. The rooms and bathrooms are bright and clean, but you’ll probably want to spend most of your time sitting on the deck by the pool taking in the amazing view. The region has many great restaurants and enough wineries to keep you busy for a year’s worth of trips!”

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE RENTAL PRICE?

Everything. We include cleaning before your arrival and when you leave (if you stay for longer than seven nights we will also do a mid-stay clean), towels, bed linen, utilities… basically everything you need to enjoy your stay with us. The only thing not included is the local tourist tax, which is 1.50 EUR per person per night.

Please note, the price quoted is for 10 people (over the age of 2) sharing the property. For extra guests (up to a maximum of 12) there is a surcharge of 20 Euros per person per night.

WHAT ARE THE CHECK-IN AND CHECK-OUT TIMES?

We ask guests not to come to the Villa before 4pm on their day of arrival so that we have time to fully clean and prepare the rooms. If you will be arriving after 7pm, please let us know. At the end of your stay, we ask that you vacate the Villa by 10.30am. If these times do not fit with your travel plans please let us know and we will do our best to be flexible, if possible.

HOW DO I PAY?

We accept payment by Bank Transfer only. If paying from abroad we recommend using Transferwise. We will send you full details when you book.

WHAT ARE THE PAYMENT TERMS?

We ask for a deposit of 30% to be paid upon booking, with the balance to be paid no later than 6 weeks prior to your arrival. Should you need to cancel your booking more than 6 weeks prior to your arrival, we will retain the initial deposit and refund any other monies you have paid. Should you cancel later than 6 weeks prior to your arrival we reserve the right to retain both the deposit and the balance of the rental fee. However, in both these circumstances, if we are able to find another to guest to take on your rental, we will refund you in full, less any costs incurred.

CAN I RENT JUST ONE ROOM?

No. We only rent out the entire Villa. Of course, it is up to you how many people stay, up to a maximum of 12, but we are not permitted to rent rooms out separately.

WILL WE HAVE EXCLUSIVE USE OF THE POOL?

Absolutely! When you rent the Villa you are also renting the grounds and the pool.

WHAT DOES RIBOTA MEAN?

In the local Piemontese dialect, which is still widely spoken, a ‘Ribota’ is a coming together, a gathering of friends and family either to celebrate something or just to enjoy themselves. It seems appropriate!

AM I RIGHT IN THINKING YOU LIVE NEXT DOOR TO THE VILLA?

Yes, that’s correct. We live in another part of the same Cascina, though the two properties are separated by a large hedge. We believe this helps Villa Ribota stand out above other properties as we are able to provide a higher level of service than you would usually expect from a self-catering property. We can help you plan walks and bike rides, advise you on days out, book restaurants and help you with wine tastings. We have spent four years getting to know the area, the people, the restaurants and the cantine and we are delighted to be able to share what we have found with our guests. Plus, should the worst happen and you need a doctor or dentist during your stay you have the reassurance of knowing we are on-hand to help. Of course, we understand that not everybody wants this and if you desire complete privacy during your stay we are happy to oblige.

CAN YOU PROVIDE A MAID SERVICE?

Absolutely. If you would like someone to come into the Villa every day to clean the rooms and make the beds this can be arranged. There would be an extra cost for this service. If you would like more details please contact us.

IS IT CHILD FRIENDLY?

We have two cots and two high chairs for children to use. There is also a selection of toys and games in the house, along with a selection of children’s DVDs. We have a fence around the pool, but swimming pools obviously carry an inherent risk, so you will need to remain alert at all times with children in the house.

DO YOU ACCEPT PETS?

I’m sorry but we don’t accept pets. If you want to bring your beloved pooch we know of a local dog-sitter but unfortunately animals are not allowed in the Villa.

An absolute gem for smaller or larger groups traveling to beautiful Barolo/Novello for a wine exploring and relaxing holiday… With its location you are very central in the Barolo district and yet still you are in a quiet, relaxing place with the pool and a fantastic view. The rooms are big and spacious. Everything is kept clean and with a homely atmosphere. I can’t recommend this place enough!

DENMARK

The hosts go above and beyond the call of duty to make your stay memorable, helping with restaurant recommendations and activities. The villa has been lovingly restored, and has everything you need from comfy beds to modern bathrooms, and a well kitted out kitchen and utility room. The pool is beautiful, with wonderful panoramic views across the vineyards – with the Alps in view on the horizon.

| LOCAL AREA |

WHERE IS THE NEAREST BAR/CAFE?

Our nearest cafe is the Plaza Cafe in Novello (a short drive or a hilly walk). There are several to choose from in La Morra and Barolo (both a short drive).

AND THE NEAREST RESTAURANT?

Our closest restaurant is Buon Padre in Vergne. It is a two minute drive or a 15 minute walk. We don’t advise walking in the evenings as there are no street lights. Within a five minute drive you can reach dozens of fantastic restaurants.

AND THE NEAREST SUPERMARKET?

The closest large supermarket is in Gallo, about a 15 minute drive from the Villa, though there is a small grocery store in Novello and a slightly larger one in La Morra. We will put a few essentials in the house to get you started (loo roll, soap, washing-up liquid etc) but you will need to do a shop within your first day or so. We can carry out a pre-arrival shop for you, please contact us for more details.

DO I NEED TO BOOK WINE TASTINGS?

Yes. If you have specific wineries in mind it is best to book them as far in advance as possible, particularly if they are well-known. Please let us know if you would like any help. If you are happy to be guided by us in terms of which wineries to visit, we can usually arrange tastings at fairly short notice, though again, the more notice the better! Please let us know if you are interested and we will help you plan.

HOW DOES THE LANGHE COMPARE TO TUSCANY?

Very well! The landscape is equally beautiful, though there are far more vines here in the Langhe. The food and wine are better here (though I’m sure a Tuscan would disagree) and most importantly there are far fewer tourists here. The Langhe is slowly being discovered but it is still very much Italian. Outside of Alba it is rare to hear an English voice or see a menu written in English. What’s more, the locals are delighted to meet tourists, practice their languages and tell you all about why they love the Langhe.

IS THERE ANYWHERE TO GO WALKING NEAR THE HOUSE?

There are two footpaths which run right by the house – Il Sentiero di Nascetta and L’Arco di Monviso. Both are loops of about 6km which take you into Novello and then back to the house. From Novello you can easily join up with any of the dozens of well-signposted footpaths that lead through the vines and on to other villages. There are some maps in the Villa and we would be happy to help you plan your walks.

WHAT IS THERE FOR KIDS TO DO?

If you can get them away from the swimming pool, there is the Wine Museum in Barolo, which is really interactive and great for kids, the Toy Museum in Bra and the Museum of Magic in Cherasco. We can arrange cooking classes for children at the Villa and several local vineyards welcome children with fun activities. There is also a great adventure playground for slightly bigger kids, about 45 minutes away, and a Go-Kart track, horse riding and electric bikes.
